Taxes Payable:
 June 1 first half, December 1 second half, 1% discount on second half if paid in full in June.

Interest and Penalty:
5% delinquency charge assessed July 2 for the first half tax due, 1% additional charge for
each month thereafter, and an additional $1.00 notice fee.
5% delinquency charge assessed January 2 for the second half tax due, 1% additional charge for
each month thereafter, and an additional $1.00 notice fee

County, Town and School taxes are paid to the Town of Hempstead.
Veterans Exemptions (516) 465-4155
  • Applications for exemptions must be filed with appropriate documents between September 1 and December 31 (forms available at the Business Office)
  • New residents moving into Garden City having exemption under Section 458 of the Real Property Tax Law (eligible funds) in their former municipality may transfer that exemption to Garden City.
