As a new resident you are an important part of one of the most unique villages in America. You have chosen to live in a community which, since its incorporation in 1919, has a governing Board of Trustees that have been elected by a non-partisan vote of village-wide residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement Party. The position of Mayor rotates from section to section of the Village (Central, Western, Eastern, and Estates); the Mayor and seven Trustees volunteer their time and serve without compensation.
   The Board of Trustees is fortunate to have an outstanding Village Administrator, Robert Schoelle, who has been with the Village for the past 29 years and heads an excellent competent Executive Staff who work with the Board of Trustees to assure fiscal soundness and delivery of quality municipal services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
   Garden City is singled out for its commitment to the delivery of superior municipal services, fiscal soundness, public safety, an esthetic and healthy environment, as well as having an excellent school district. Residents who volunteer on the Board of Trustees, its standing boards and commissions in collaboration with an exceptional and loyal executive staff are what make this form of government work so well.
